Taichi originated from the concepts of “yin-yang (陰陽)” in “Yi-Ching (易經)”. Yi-Ching, the Book of Changes, is a manuscript that describes the principles of the relationship of things and endless forms of lives in universe. To achieve relaxation of body and mind, harmony of body and nature, and a mind free from obsession of ideas, people need to practice Taichi diligently. “A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.” There is no way to be enlightened to realize (悟) the truth and the “Tao (道)” without assiduous, wholeheartedly practices.
Master Mei-Hsiu Lee, founder of Easy Taichi School, has been teaching Taichi for more than 30 years. She has realized that to achieve the higher kungfu level and self-cultivation and behavior in Taichi, the most needed is the body's relaxation and “let go (放下)” in mind. For modern people, harmony of body and mind is critical for health. Therefore, the teaching of Easy Taichi School is to “live Taichi in our daily lives” - to practice and live Taichi's concept of relaxation in students' daily lives. This includes keeping correct structure/posture of body and spine, relaxing muscles and fascia to develop “chi (氣)" or life energy, enhancing the state of body-mind to easily let go of different emotions and thoughts. These Taichi practices help students achieve freedom, inner peace and balance of body-mind, and get them through difficult times in life. All in all, Taichi is not just movements of body, but a life style we choose for ourselves.

We offer a full course of 37-Form Taichi starting with basic movement, theory and philosophy. The fundamentals are introduced and the student progresses through a series of movements and techniques. The Form helps students work through and relieve tension, develop focus and balance, and retrain the nervous system to relax. Learning to use the waist to redirect movement and force is essential to Taichi. The body, breath and mind fluidly adapt and synergistically utilize your energy, power and intention to release force instead of fighting against each other.
